Chromecast Network Video MKV 8GB file issue
We have a difficulty to figure out what the problem is with the information you gave us. We can not figure out and solve the problem if it is not reproduced.
In order to test in the most similar conditions to those where you did, please upload your sample file to ftp://test.newin.co.kr or give us your file link. Basically it's an MKV X264 file with 8GB size.
The video always freeze at same point (about a minute of playtime, example 2:10 of playtime) when playing in Chromecast. Note that i'm playing USING NETWORK (Not save locally in my phone)
I also tried other files with the same MKV X264 format and it also freezes at exactly same point/playtime if the file is more than 4GB in size

Please play via Network then play on Chromecast. The video will freeze at exacty 2:18 everytime you run the video from the start
Any update on this admin? I did not here any response from your team yet.

We have fixed the problem, and it will be applied to the next update. Related options(Passthrough) have been added on the Settings tab. This happens when you have a high-capacity file that works with HLS. Please check it in the next version. Thank you.

Hi admin, I received your update today and Im really excited to try your fix but I'm still encountering the same issue. The video still stuck at 2:18.
I can now see the new option Audio passthrough in the settings and Chromecast is enabled by default
I also tried to disabled th option for chromecast but still the same issue

The video file that I sent to you is still always stuck at exactly 2:18
Again, details of my hardwares are below
- Iphone 7+ 10.3.2
- Chromecast Version 2 (The New circle shape Chromecast)
- Linksys AC
- I'm connected at 5GHz network
- PlayerXtreme is playing the same file over the network without an issue (Though it has a bug that it cannot play in Chromecast if the phone is lock)
- New Passthrough option is enabled for Chromecast but issue is NOT solved. I also tried other options like disabling and enabling again the chromecast option and enabling other options like HDMI but the issue is still NOT solved
- I also tried restarting my phone but the issue is still there
Kindly inform me if this issue is fixable or I should move on already and I just try other video players like Infuse
Ok I just want to help others with same dilemma as me. What I want is to properly play all of my media in my big screen using Chromecast whatever the format of the file.
1st of all, infairness to Nplayer, Infuse and PlayerXtreme, they are all good in playing almost all of the video format thru local or network but only in the app itself.
The Dilemma will start if you start using it with other casting devices like Chromecast. Each of them will have their own issue. I tried PlayerXtreme and you cant lock your phone while playing in Chromecast and Nplayer cant handle some Big files when playing in Chromecast.
After lots of research what I really need to achieve this is a proper app with good video codec processing and with good casting ability to chromecast
1st option: Use Windows PC and download KLite like codec and a good compatible player like Media Player Classic. If you will use Klite Codec pack usually Media player classic is bundled within the installer itself.
After that you need an updated Google Chrome browser and the chromecast casting option will be enabled by default in the browser
You can then play any video format in Media player classic and cast your desktop screen in your chromecast device using the Chrome browser
2nd option: Use PLEX! There are two steps for Plex to use properly.1st is you need a device to become the Plex Media Server ( Usually this can be your desktop pc ). Setup is pretty straight forward, and after that you need to install Plex client to your Smartphone, smart tv, gaming console, etc.
The plex client can now play any video format from your plex server machine! Plex is doing this by processing any video format from your plex server machine to compatible video format to your client device (on the fly!). Best way to handle everything to be compatible to everything.
One downside of Plex is you need a Plex Media Server for it to do its magic.
For me this is the best approach as I'm not saving any video in my Smartphone as some of my video can go up to 12GB each. All of my medias are stored in an external drive and i'm accessing it thru local machine or network drive.
And if you're willing to pay a monthly PLEX subscription an offline option is also available.
PLEX is the best if you have same Dilemma as me. Casting to chromecast is free at all! Playing in your smartphone needs a one time payment for the app or a Plex subscription. You will get all other options he Plex could offer if you have the Plex subscription.
