Subtitles can't display rows with language specific character

  • Playing video from network, SMB. Subtitles in Czech do not display the phrase, if the subtitle line contains special character specific for Czech, for instance š, ž, á, ě, ř etc. It means almost all phrases do not display at all.

Previous versions 2.* worked without any problem.

Settings -> General -> Default Text Encoding

Can you test? Use the right encoding.

  • Settings -> General -> Default Text Encoding

    CP1250 work for me.

  • OK, it is working now. Thanks for advice.

I have tried to find this setting by myself, but I simply did not try the "General". It is unlogical here. The old version has Settings > Subtitles > Encoding. And then "Default" works without problem. It should get back there.

  • I opened the file in Firefox, and I changed the Encoding to Central European (Windows) ant it's OK. I suppose that the Encoding in nPlayer is not working for ISO-8859-2.

  • Sorry for late reply. nPlayer 3.0 had the problem of text encoding. The problem you mentioned was caused by that. We’ve fixed the problem. You can check it in the next version. Thank you.
